Abstract

The article describes the peculiarities of adaptation of adolescents at pre-university educational institutions of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, and in particular at the Suvorov military schools. On the basis of analysis of scientific sources the author singles out certain common features of the phenomenon of adaptation in domestic and foreign psychology. Adaptation refers to one of the basic socio-psychological mechanisms of socialization of a person and serves as an indicator of their maturity. In the first place, adaptation is nothing but change and transformation of the systems of the person’s interaction with the surrounding world. In the second place, such destruction and radical change of the existing system of ties provokes the switching on of personal defense mechanisms in order to achieve harmony in the system of “man environment”. The article regards the peculiarities of adaptation of adolescents enrolled in a military school from the point of view of its socio-psychological level. The article offers an authored interpretation of the phenomenon of socio-psychological adaptation of adolescents to the study at a military educational institution. Under socio-psychological adaptation of adolescents to the conditions of a military educational institution the author understands the process of interaction between the personality of a 5th grade adolescent and the educational environment, in the result of which there forms an optimal correlation between the possibilities, inclinations, interests, knowledge and skills of the child on the one hand, and the conditions of the system of education and upbringing of a military institution on the other. The article defines the main indicators of socio-psychological adaptation and disadaptation of adolescents during their study at a military educational institution.
