Abstract

The velocity of positive and negative ions in 3He–4He solutions containing 0.22%, 0.75%, and 1.30% 3He has been measured in electric fields up to 1000 V cm−1 in the temperature range 0.37–0.67°K by the time-of-flight method. It has been shown that at sufficiently low temperatures where scattering of ions by impurity excitations is predominant the field dependence of the positive–ion drift velocity shifts to the higher–velocity side in strong electric fields.
