Abstract

Abstract Fifteen-yr-old Barlett pear trees were sprayed with handguns operating at 600 psi to evaluate candidate pesticides for control of pear psylla. Plots consisted of five 2-tree replications in randomized block design. Each plot was sprayed on May 1 and Jun 29. Treatments were evaluated by counts of adults and nymphs before the first treatment and at intervals through the duration of the test. Adults were counted by taking 5 beating tray samples/replicate. Nymphs were counted on 5 spurs through Jun 4 and on 5 terminals thereafter from each replicate. Fruit quality was evaluaated on the BAAM and check plots by measuring firmness, soluble solids and titratable acid of 10 fruits/replicate on Aug 8 and 13.
