Abstract

This paper studies the reduction of peak to average power ratio (PAPR) for single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) plus soft-clipping is investigated This is considered to be replaced of the orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) in passive optical network. That is called OFDMA-PON. In order to reducing PAPR become lower without increasing the bit error rate (BER), the subcarriers mapping schemes of distributed frequency division multiple access (DFDMA), interleaved frequency division multiple access (IFDMA), and localized frequency division multiple access (LFDMA) are studied. In this work, the Soft-Clipping was added in to SC-FDMA. The numerical simulation using Matlab is employed. The results show that SC-FDMA with soft-clipping method can be reduced the PAPR up to 6 dB. Additionally, the IFDMA gives the lowest PAPR without any penalties at the same signal to noise ratio.
