Abstract

This article describes activities and methodologies of the Global Partnership for thePrevention of Armed Conflict Peace Education Working Group. Drawing its members fromcivil society organizations, higher-education institutions, and government over the past5 years, the working group has collaborated to share resources, policies, curriculum, research,and expertise, particularly in terms of what is working in peace education and conflict resolutioneducation. After describing the values and principles of the group and how these aretranslated into practice, methodologies and future directions are presented around the followingthemes: (a) reporting and encouraging evaluation research on peace education andconflict resolution education; (b) encouraging conflict resolution and peace education asan integral part of teacher education; (c) curricular focus on social emotional student-centeredlearning; (d) strengthening collaboration between government, civil society organizations,and education authorities; (e) creating grassroots education programs; and (f) buildingsocial cohesion through a multicultural/multifaith lens.
