Abstract
This research investigates the working conditions of hired fishermen during the French Regime. These fishermen were working on small boats called shallop, in the Gulf of Saint-Lawrence, in Canada. The records we are using are contracts from the Notarial Archives of Plaisance, Ile Royale and Québec.
