Abstract

Middle School Teachers Working with students who are making their first steps in solving algebraic word problems are familiar with this phenomenon: young students can successfully cope with intricate real-life mathematics, such as spending pocket money or planning an excursion under constraints, but they become helpless when faced with an ordinary textbook problem.
