Abstract

This research has followed the patterns of repetition and its imageries in Ali Mustafa Lawan's poetry, as he is a Nigerian contemporary poet who writes his poems in standard Arabic. He has left his mark in the status of the Arabic Nigerian poetry during his stage. The researcher has followed how the poet dealt with the repetitions and also the purposes that have made him repeat some words or phrases in his text. It has been figured out to her that the poet Ali Mustafa Lawan has given a great deal of the references to these types of repetitions which are the horizontal and shallow repetitions than the others, and the lexical repetition is one of the most outstanding repetition imagery in his poetry which verifies his artistic knowledge that the poet Ali Mustafa Lawan lives in when he presents his thoughts in the poetic imagery in front of the audience. Since the poet was normal in building the walls of his poetic verses, so he reduced in his poetry so many types of repetition that have been frequently used by the contemporary poets specially those poets who are interested in the free poetry or the rhythm. There have been various repetition patterns to the Nigerian poet Ali Mustafa Loon in his poetry that figure out to me that the problem of these repetitions has reflected his mood especially in the romantic poems, in addition to the elegy he presented to his dead father. Actually, this proves the poet’s cultural poetic diversity as he knows very well how to repeat some words to give a rhythm to the audience. Besides, it gives the reader other indications. While he writes the text, he notices the tones of these repeated letters as an imaginary hum that motivates him to write down poetry.
