Abstract
This article presents the experience of implementing Maria da Penha Patrols by the Military Police of the State of Rio Grande do Sul. The patrols were created to supervise the fulfillment of preventive measures judicially determined after the onset of Law no 11.340/2006 (Maria da Penha Law) and of preventive police action, in order to avoid both relapses and new episodes of domestic gender violence. This project exhibited good results in its two years of implementation in the four Peace Territories in the city of Porto Alegre, situated in neighborhoods with high levels of violence and criminality, and is being extended to the whole State due to its positive results in the period.
