Abstract
The article considers the pedagogical and educational potential of the regional studies course «History and culture of the Moscow region», read for students of pedagogical specialties. The significance of this training course in solving the tasks of educating young people in the spirit of citizenship and patriotism is substantiated. Examples of selection of historical course material and topics of lectures and seminars, as well as optimal forms of students’ work are given. The necessity of studying the cultural objects of the Moscow Region through excursions (near and far) is emphasized as an important component of educational activity.
