Abstract

Immunotherapy is a novel modality in the treatment of both melanoma and cancer patients. The safety of this advanced treatment is modified by a number of environmental factors. This paper reviews the most common factors that may affect the incidence rate of adverse events as well as the effectiveness of immunotherapy. Sex, age, BMI and smoking status have been discussed in this paper, as these account for the most frequent factors in clinical practice. The paper discusses the results with the overall conclusion that the therapy should be patient-centered and consider all biological factors.
