Abstract

On February 22-24, 2006, the Declaration on Patient-Centered Healthcare was adopted at the second Global Patients Congress, organized by the International Alliance of Patients' Organizations (IAPO) in Barcelona, Spain. For many years, the principle of treating the disease, and not the individual patient, prevailed in healthcare. Patient-centered healthcare is an alternative approach to disease prevention and promotion of health and well-being, based on modern technologies and an individual approach to each patient
