Abstract

Basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) are the most common malignant tumours in humans. Australia has the highest incidence of BCCs worldwide. Because patient management is largely stratified by risk of recurrence, accurate histological criteria for the diagnosis of high-risk subtypes (micronodular, infiltrating, and sclerosing/morphoeic BCC) are required.
