Abstract

SummarySummaryNovelty: New cephalosporins of the oxyimino class which carry a charged heterocyclic group on the C-3 side chain are disclosed. They are claimed to have potent broad spectrum activity.Biology: MIC data (twenty strains) are provided for eight compounds with cefotaxime as the control in one table. MIC50 and MIC90 data are included for the preferred compound against 254 clinical isolates (in a second table). The stability of the same compound to various β-lactamase preparations and its in vivo activity models (Strep. strain) are also given.Chemistry: Syntheses are detailed in ninety-two examples. The compound shown is (6R, 7R)-7-[(Z)-2-(2-aminomiazol-4-yl)-2-memoxyimino-acetamido]-3-[(1-aminobenzotriazol-3-ium) methyl]-ceph-3-em-4-carboxylate.
