Patent SummaryNovel benzopyran Class III anti-arrhythmic agents are disclosed which may have utility for the treatment of cardiac arrythmias.In vitro experiments utilizing the isolated right ventricular papillary muscle of guinea-pigs were carried out to determine the anti-arrhythmic activity. Measurement of the ventricular refractory period produced changes in the range 35-125 msec at 3±10-6M. D-sotalol produced a change of 40 msec at 3±10-5M.Synthesis was by standard methods. Sixteen compounds are exemplified by synthesis. Twenty-seven compounds are specifically claimed. N-(3,4-dihydro-2H-1-benzopyran-4-yl)methyl]-4-piperidinyl]-4-pyridi-necarboxamide dihydrochloride is typical of the claim.
