Abstract
As editor of a text of the Septuagint, The Antiochian Text of I-II Samuel, the author proposes some reflections on the text history of the Septuagint in the light of the new insights in the realm of textual criticism during the last decades since the Qumran Discoveries. The Hebrew text was the ultimate criterion of the genuine Septuagint. It has been found that a Septuagint corrupted in many ways and diverse according to the different regions. Since the Qumran discoveries, it has been found for the first time important changes in the evaluation of the Greek Bible for the history of the Biblical text. The author has also learnt that the text history of the Septuagint cannot be treated as a whole. He believes that textual criticism today faces new challenges as a result of the progress achieved in the text history of the Bible around the Common Era.Keywords: biblical text history; Greek Bible; Hebrew text; Qumran discoveries; Septuagint; textual criticism
