Abstract

Most observables measured at RHIC involve strongly interacting particles from the final hadronic stage. They carry, however, useful information on the properties of the partonic matter produced during the initial stage and its hadronization dynamics. For example, observed large elliptic flow of hadrons and their scaling according to the number of valence quarks in a hadron have provided strong evidence for the formation of an initial partonic matter that is strongly interacting and hadronizes via coalescence or recombination of quarks. In this paper, the relation between hadron anisotropic flow and that of produced partons is illustrated in terms of a multiphase transport model that includes interactions both in initial partonic and final hadronic matters as well as the transition between these two phases of matter.
