Abstract

An innovative device for producing a double-layer pellet was designed, constructed and operated for the purpose of establishing an accurate transport diagnostic system to measure particle transport both parallel and perpendicular to the magnetic field lines of magnetic confinement devices. For the precise set-up of the cryohead, special techniques were used, and the wholw device was successfully constructed. The production of a double-layer pellet was demonstrated, and its image of double-layer configuration was photographed during flight in both vertical and horizontal directions, taken by fast flash lamps. Thus, proof-of-principle of the production method of a double-layer pellet for the diagnostics purposes is demonstrated for the first time.
