Abstract

The high pulse repetition frequency (HPRF) mode is widely adopted in the airborne pulse Doppler (PD) radar system, which results in problem that the range measurement of target is ambiguous. In this paper, a particle filter (PF) based method is proposed for target tracking with the HPRF radar in clutter. The proposed method makes full use of the PF that each particle represents a possible target state, and avoids the problem of multiple possible measurements by updating target state with the ambiguous measurement directly. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method can estimate target state as well as the pulse interval number (PIN) simultaneously, and succeeds in target tracking with the HPRF radar in dense clutters. Simulation results also show that the performance of the proposed method is superior to that of multiple hypothesis (MH) methods in dense clutters. (5 pages)
