Abstract
Unified-model calculations are done for the N = 83 nucleus 143Nd in the attempt to reproduce the rich collection of experimental data. For the first time, modifications of previous calculations are introduced by taking into account (i) diagonal energy contributions that cause important splitting within the particle-octupole multiplet, and (ii) a parametrization of the coupling between the N = 82 + particle and N = 84 + hole configurations. The quadrupole moments of the J π i = 2 + 1 and 3 − 1 states in the even-even Z = 56−66, N = 82 isotones are extracted and compared with theoretical estimates and the scarce experimental values.
