Abstract

Making decisions is a constant process, some choices have almost irrelevant impacts and others can bring dramatic changes. In the business environment to decision-making is not a simple task because of the greater complexity of the alternatives and results. In this scenario, there are the executive secretariat of professionals working mainly as advisers of the decision makers. This research aims to understand the participation of the executive secretariat of professional decision-making, seeking to identify their contributions. For this, there was a single case study in a private company in projects and civil works in Ceara sector. This is a descriptive, qualitative approach. The technique chosen for data collection was the in-depth interview with the executive secretary of the company and its manager. Data were analyzed using content analysis. The results provided evidence, in general, that the company studied using the decision making model group, through the consultative method for non-programmed decisions or degree of risk or uncertainty and that the main contribution of the Executive Secretary in business decision-making is with the management of information.
