Abstract

The occurrence of crystal-structure types among a series of ANb 1− x V x O 4 compounds, where A is a trivalent rare-earth ion, has been determined by X-ray diffraction. The results have been used to refine the published structure-field map for A 3+B 5+O 4 compounds. Discrete regions of stability are found for the monazite, zircon, fergusonite and scheelite structures.
