Abstract

Analysis of the temperature and composition profiles obtained by probing a confined, axisymmetric-laminar methane-air diffusion flame suggests that a state of partial equilibrium exists in the high-temperature primary reaction zone. Free-radical concentrations were estimated to be several orders of magnitude in excess of the full-equilibrium values.
