Abstract

Background: Pregnancy and especially lactation cause loss of bone mass and microarchitecture that may not be completely restored. Although cross-sectional studies in older women have reported that parity and lactation are neutral or protective against fragility fractures, longitudinal data are lacking. CaMos is a randomly selected cohort of >6000 women who have been followed for up to 15 years, with annual, verified incident fractures, and 5-yearly bone density assessments.
