Abstract
Twelve specimens of Geomys bursarius were examined for endoand ectoparasites. Hosts were collected in the field and placed in separate plastic sacks for transportation to the laboratory where they were either examined or frozen. Both the plastic sacks and the body of the gophers were examined for ectoparasites. Six gophers were washed to obtain ectoparasites not easily obtained from the pelage. The hair of the frozen hosts was combed, which proved as satisfactory as washing for obtaining ectoparasites. All ectoparasites were cleared with lactophenol and mounted in Moyer's mounting medium. Blood, withdrawn from four hosts, was placed on a slide, smeared, dried and stained with Wrights stain. All blood examined was negative for parasites.
