Abstract

Every large industry needs storage facility in the form of bins to store materials. A silo is a favourable place for storing food grains, cement or any powder material. Due to rapid increase in technology, these silos are not only used for storing the above-mentioned materials, but they are now a day’s being used for storing guided missiles also. In the present work, a double silo of dimensions (L = 10 m, B = 10 m and H = 20 m) for storing powdery material is considered and analysed for various loading conditions like self-weight, material pressures, wind-loads, seismic loads and different combinations of these loads. The mode shapes and the stress diagrams for various loading conditions are studied and the results against static loading and dynamic loading and their combinations have been represented in this present research work.
