Abstract

Abstract The high entropy alloy is the new class of materials having minimum five principle elements in equi-atomic or near equi-atomic ratio along with four core effect high entropy effect, sluggish diffusion effect, severe lattice distortion effect and cocktail effect. These effects lead to some distinct characteristic of high entropy alloy. As a kind of surface coating method, laser cladding method is superior to others due to its unique characteristics such as process stability, improved repeatability, better control on process parameters and the good metallurgical bonding between the clad layer and base material. The paper summarizes various research works carried out so far in the area of parametric investigation of laser cladded high entropy alloy coatings.
