Abstract

Titania, especially the anatase-phase, is a very widely used material in photovoltaic DSSC-cells, as photo-catalyst, and as transparent conductor. Peptization experiments are best for achieving small anatase particle size. The newly evaluated diagrams suggest that for the aim of photo-catalytic decomposition a small bandgap is beneficial, but the active surface area has a much larger contribution due to contact area and transport of the molecules to titania. Doping with Gd and Ta and keeps the sintering temperature low.
