Abstract
The paper describes a computer program for applying the parameter plane technique to the analysis and design of feedback control systems. Interactive graphics are used to plot characteristic curves of relative damping, natural angular frequency and real pole location in a plane of two parameters which, typically, are design parameters within a feedback loop. The development and structure of the program are described and examples are included illustrating its application to the analysis of single input - single output and multivariable control systems. The paper also shows how the program may be used to analyse nonlinear control systems, sampled data control systems and optimal linear control systems.
