Abstract
We have investigated the superconducting transition region in YB 2Cu 3O 7 single crystal showing the paramagnetic Meissner effect (PME). The field-cooled cooling (FCC) and field-cooled warming (FCW) magnetization measurements show that application of AC magnetic field increases paramagnetic response if the sample c-axis is parallel to DC and AC magnetic fields. In the temperature region where the PME appears the sample reveals logarithmic relaxation of magnetization. The decay rate appreciably depends on the direction of the magnetic fields. This phenomenon indicates that the PME may be caused by thermal fluctuations.
