Abstract
A model of elementary ·particles based on parafermi field th.eory is discussed.. Urbaryons (that constitute hadrons) and leptons are assumed to be described by parafermi fields of p=odd and p=2, respectively (p: order), and the theory is subject to the minimal gauge group 0 (p). X SO (2) z. It is emphasized that the .existence of the gauge group is a natural consequence of the locality condition of the theory.
