Abstract
Orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) has been widely used for multiple access in broadband wireless network. However, a major drawback of OFDMA signals is the high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). Tone reservation (TR) is a well known method using reserved subcarriers to design a peak-cancelling signal for lower PAPR of transmit OFDMA signals. In this paper, we propose an improved TR approach based on Kashin's representation to com-bat the high PAPR. Based on the theory of uncertainty principle, we design an iterative algorithm to reconstruct OFDMA signals with lower PAPR. Compared with tone reservation (TR) method, the proposed algorithm exhibits more PAPR reduction, which is verified by extensive simulations.
