Abstract

Porous β-TCP structures were manufactured via novel preceramic paper process. The paper sheets were sintered at 1200°C for 2h. The porous ceramic specimens were characterized for density, porosity, microstructure and mechanical properties. A pronounced volumetric shrinkage was observed, but no surface flaws or inhomogeneous areas were detected. The compressive strength and compressive modulus of sintered specimens vary between 6.55 and 5.62MPa and 0.33–0.39GPa, respectively.
