Abstract

An experimental investigation of the slow speed performance of a tandem cascade of aerofoils is described. The theoretical criteria on which the cascade was designed are discussed; the method of Ackeret, described elsewhere, was used to obtain the geometry of the aerofoils. Tests were carried out on the effect of the magnitude of the gap between each tandem pair and of the effect of varying, independently, the stagger of each aerofoil. Tests were carried out over a wide range of inlet angle for the range of staggers adopted and optimum deflections for the cascade were determined.
