Abstract
Tourism is a rapidly growing industry globally, contributing significantly to economic development. However, many regions in Indonesia, including South Sulawesi Province, have not optimized their tourism potential. Karang Indah Beach in Selayar Regency is one such destination, offering natural beauty and unique features but struggling to maximize its appeal due to limited local community participation and yet-to-be strategic planning. This research highlights the importance of the Karang Indah Beach strategy, with its natural features such as coral reefs, freshwater springs, and santigi bonsai trees. Despite its appeal and increasing number of visitors, challenges such as limited infrastructure and local community involvement are hindering its full potential. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach, utilizing primary data from interviews and direct observations of managers, local communities, and visitors, as well as secondary data from supporting documents. SWOT analysis is applied to evaluate the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats that have an impact on the development of Karang Indah Beach. The results of the study show that to optimize the tourism potential of Karang Indah Beach, a comprehensive development strategy that integrates community involvement, infrastructure improvement, and effective promotion is needed.
