Abstract
Dog pancreatic juice caused esteriucation of free cholesterol and oleic acid in a substrate prepared from myelin figures of cholesterol, water and oleic acid. Bile salt was required for optimum activity, but if it was increased above a certain level, hydrolysis of esters occurred. Cholesterol esterification was completely blocked by 40 mM sodium taurocholate.
