A strange divide has developed in the treatment of pain and discomfort in cancer patients. There is the camp of Palliative Medicine, and it stands separate from the camp of Pain Medicine. The pain medicine specialists, with some exception, have abandoned the treatment of these patients to the palliative medicine specialists.
