Abstract

Synthetic hydrotalcites are used as supports for loading palladium metal. Hydrotalcite supports are prepared at both high supersaturation (pH>13) and low supersaturation (pH=10) conditions with different interlayer anions CO32, SO42. Different palladium precursors PdCl2, K2PdCl4, Pd(CH3COO)2 and Pd(NH3)4Cl2 are used for impregnating palladium onto the support. Supports are characterised by XRD and surface area. CO chemisorption measurements are used to measure Pd dispersion. Activity of 1wt%Pd/HT is evaluated for phenol hydrogenation.
