Abstract
Abstract Heteronuclear palladium(II)-lanthanide(III) complexes of H4fsaen, PdLn(fsaen)(NO3)(H2O)n (Ln = La, Ce, Nd, Eu, Gd, Ho or Yb; n=4 for Ln=La, n=3.5 for Ln=Ce-Gd, n=3 for Ln=Ho, Yb), were synthesized and characterized based on elemental analyses, thermogravimetry, and IR spectral and magnetic susceptibility measurements, where H4fsaen denotes N,N'-bis(3-carboxysalicylidene)-ethylenediamine. Palladium(II) and lanthanide(III) ions are located at the endogenous N2O2- and the exogenous O4-coordination sites of the ligand, respectively. The respective magnetic moments at room temperature were within the range reported for the tervalent lanthanide compounds.
