Abstract
PALYNOLOGY OF HOLOCENE SEDIMENTS IN THE COASTAL PLAIN OF RIO GRANDE DO SUL STATE (PASSINHOS LOCALITY), SOUTHERN BRAZIL. This paper presents the results of palynological analysis made with 51 samples obtained in a 270 cm core from Passinhos locality, Osorio municipality, in the Coastal Plain from Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil. Three samples were dated by 14 C and the basal one gives an age of 10.600±90 years B.P. The 71 distinct palinomorphs were grouped accordingly their habits and habitats and statistically treated in order of furnish their percentage and concentration diagrams of distribution. Four palinological zones were identified allowing its correlation with others works previously accomplished in the region, reflecting a gradual colmatation of a lagoon and the final anthropization of local vegetation.
