Abstract
Abstract The authors present a theory to explain the formation of a cryo‐aridic climatic belt in the Arctic during the ice ages. This belt had distinctive periglacial landscapes and was characterized by a wide distribution of cryogenic‐eolian yedoma layers of the ice‐loess type.
