Abstract

Background The unfulfilled desire to have children poses a serious problem for many couples. There are multiple reasons for the condition of sterility, based on pathologic conditions of the male as well as the female side. The following case report serves to show how a treatment of both partners with Chinese medical therapy can facilitate conception. Objective Treatment of both partners using Chinese medicine, until conception. Methods Traditional Chinese Medicine doesn't ask to identify the patho-physiological reasons for sterility (such as hormonal imbalances, endometriosis, disorders of the thyroid, chromosome anomalies…), but instead uses the nomenclature of Chinese “patterns” to describe the problem. Following this clinical pattern, the prescription is found. Results Conception within the first month of treatment. Discussion Traditional Chinese medical therapy may be used either alone or in combination with endocrinological therapy or IVF in order to overcome conditions of primary sterility.
