Abstract

CD26/dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (CD26) is a multifunctional enzyme containing collagen and fibronectin binding sites. CD26 is not only expressed on various malignancies, but also associated with the progression of organ fibrosis of the heart, liver, kidney, and lung. We previously showed a high expression of CD26 in lung adenocarcinoma and a significant association between CD26 expression and a worse survival of patients showing an active epithelial-mesenchymal transition status. Here, we extended our analysis on the correlation between CD26, fibrosis and inflammation mediators on patient lung tumors.
