Abstract
PTSD is a disabling condition associated with increased risk for early onset of age-related conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and dementia. Evidence suggests that PTSD is associated with elevated systemic levels of oxidative stress and inflammation, which may contribute to the early onset of neurodegeneration. Advances in magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) make it possible to measure neurometabolites of oxidative stress and inflammation in the brain.
