Abstract
Iron is critical for healthy brain biochemistry and function. While deficient peripheral iron was found to increase psychiatric morbidity risk, in vivo brain iron examinations in psychotic spectrum disorders (PSD) are lacking. Here, we examined tissue iron changes in PSD and their associations with psychotic symptoms in iron-rich basal ganglia structures and thalamus using MRI.
