Abstract
It has become increasingly clear that higher body mass index (BMI) is associated with altered cortical development. Although variation in BMI is strongly influenced by genetic factors, it is unknown whether cortical differences associated with BMI have a genetic origin. It is also unknown whether BMI affects cortical development or the opposite (differences in cortical development lead to greater BMI).
