Abstract

Racial health disparities in the United States are a major concern, as Black Americans face greater morbidity and mortality at earlier ages compared to non-Black Americans. Environmental adversity is key to health outcomes, and therefore stressors that disproportionately impact Black Americans likely play important roles in these disparities. More data is needed, however, investigating the potential biological underpinnings of this phenomenon, such as accelerated aging. We aimed to disentangle the unique association of racial/ethnic discrimination with pubertal development.
