Abstract

The Fear of Harm (FOH) phenotype of bipolar disorder is characterized by early age of onset, severe mood swings, fearful-aggressive obsessions, parasomnias and thermal dysregulation. Further, most individuals with FOH are insensitive to cold and frequently go out in winter in short pants. We hypothesized that patients with FOH have abnormal fMRI BOLD responses to cold stimuli which would be normalized following ketamine.
