Abstract
Pulmonary complications post-cardiac surgery are an important cause of morbidity and mortality, influencing length of stay (LOS) and total cost (1) reportedly affecting 7.5% of patients (2).Cardiac surgery and perioperative recovery alters pulmonary mechanics, which influences these outcomes (1).This proof of concept study aims to investigate derecruitment post-cardiac surgery, using static compliance as a surrogate, and its association with pulmonary morbidity.
