Abstract

We propose a high‐resolution autostereoscopic display that has a deep viewing zone based on time‐multiplexed directional backlight using a large aperture Fresnel lens. When the distance of a viewer from the display changes, the depth of light source should be changed to avoid stereoscopic crosstalk. By combining a DMD projector with layered PDLC screens, the depth of the light source is electronically changed to follow the viewer's motion, which expands the viewing zone in the depth direction.
